Grosvenor Sports Review

Grosvenor is of course well known for running the most popular land based and online casino brand in the UK.  Established in 1970, the group runs 53 real world casinos along with a massively stocked and resourced digital casino site running NetEnt, IGT and Micrograming games among others from top software developers.

This isn’t much of a sportsbook then you must be thinking?  Think again. Grosvenor could beat the size and markets of many dedicated betting sites with well stocked markets on football, rugby and racing right down to netball, yachting and eSports, with everything in between.  They may not be a replacement for a big high street bookie but they do want to be the best Casino Sportsbook out there, and from what I can tell they are achieving their aims already.

This is one of the best and most well known casinos in the industry and they are not pretending to be anything else, but they are adding to it.  What they now have is a really good sports package available alongside an excellent pre-existing casino, and much bigger than other brands doing the same thing.  Anyone who bets and games in equal measure is going to be happy with Grosvenor.

About Grosvenor

Grosvenor Sports LogoGrosvensor is part of the Rank Group, which also includes the famous bingo brand Mecca.  This group posses a huge amount of experience and a wealth of resources in the casino, gaming and betting industry.  The Rank Group as a whole employs over 11,000 people, mainly in the UK, with approaching £1 billion in yearly revenue.

Based in Maidenhead, in the UK (although online operations are run from Alderney in Guernsey), this is a good British gambling company and perfect for anyone who likes to play or bet with a UK company.  The group in fact originally began in the cinema industry, this is reflected in their golden logo silhouette of a man hitting a gong.

Grosvenor itself was founded nearly 50 years ago in 1970 and is now the largest multi-channel casino operator in the UK.  They own 56 land based casinos in the UK which attract over 1.6 million visitors each year.  The online casino also attracts over a million visits a year with hundreds of thousands of active users.  You don’t usually get this big in an industry this competitive if you don’t give customers what they want.

Why Bet Here?

Grosvenor Sports MapLet’s get straight to the point, Grosvenor in an all round betting package rather than a dedicated sportsbook, but that does not mean it’s no good for serious sports bettors, more that it’s especially good for those who like to vary their betting activity or those who like to play a lot of casino games but also want a fully stocked sports book easily on hand.

It has every market a typical bettor would need and in some areas it actually excels due to the fact it is such a huge casino brand; big fights and boxing offers in particular fit into this category.

It’s also an extremely well resourced company with deep roots so it can provide a solid service with plenty of value and rewards, but most importantly, it’s reputable. With 50+ years in the game they aren’t going to be trying to pull a fast one any time soon.

The obvious other benefit is that they have physical casino locations all over the country so you can get out on the town and have a fun evening with friends, and with new Grosvenor One scheme you can collate all of your betting activity.

What Can You Do Here?

Obviously Grosvenor is a casino first and foremost, so this side of the business is given first dibs on the website. The sports book is a newer addition but it is better than a token add on even though it has its limitations.

I’ll cover both below, but keep in mind that Grosvenor aren’t attempting to become your one stop shop for all things betting here, they have actually quite cleverly isolated some of the most popular sports betting markets and built them into a highly functional interface to provide an online bookie that will cover a lot of bases for a lot of people. Their list is long but there are some sports that they are clearly paying more attention to.

That means that if you are a casino player who bets on headline sports you get the best of both worlds.

Casino

Grosvenor Sports Casino

You would expect this to be good really wouldn’t you, and it is. The casino doesn’t have the largest cache of games you will ever see, but they are high quality titles from trusted developers and there is good variation amongst them.

You can expect over 800 slots including a good chunk of Grosvenor Originals which you can’t play at any other casino; almost 100 different jackpots up for grabs including progressives, daily, and local variations plus the M.E.G.A range of titles; around 25 table/card games with a good spread of blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker; plus, the live casino is excellent and covers everything you would hope for and more, plus, you get access to the live networks of 2 different providers in Evolution Gamingnand Authentic Gaming.

Lastly, the poker product at Grosvenor is an entity all of its own, and the only one you will need to download to access. It has its own loyalty scheme, access to tournaments big and small, and is open to players of all experience and ability. There is some seriously big money to be won here if you play poker, and you can even watch the live streams if you aren’t playing yourself.

Sportsbook

Grosvenor Sports Sportsbook

Like I said, this isn’t attempting to blow all other bookies out of the water – although it certainly could – but it is honing in on a few key areas and hitting them hard, while also allowing room for some other niche sports categories.

With that said, there are still around 35 sports categories on offer, although not all of them are particularly busy. We had a look at what was available to bet on at 8am on a Monday morning and you will see that these ten key sports, as denoted by Grosvenor, are given as much attention as they would be at a dedicated sportsbook:

Sport Market Numbers Market Depth
Football 42358 Top leagues worldwide + UK non league, professional development league, etc.
Tennis 1100 ATP, WTP, Doubles & Qual’s + Challenger & Laver Cup
Horse Racing 340 UK/Ireland full coverage + American & South Africa
Greyhounds 429 Full UK coverage
Rugby League 163 NRL & Super League
Rugby Union 452 World Cup
Boxing 43 Major fights all weight + some unconfirmed fights
Cricket 158 County Div 1 & 2, Caribbean PL, International Twenty20 + T20 Blast
Golf 21 Ryder Cup, masters, Open Champs, Presidents Cup, US Open & PGA Champs
Motorsports 5 F1, Speedway, Supercars

Evidently then, if there is a major sporting event taking place you will be able to bet on it at Grosvenor.

The odds are pretty good too. You will see fractionally better margins than a lot of mid-range bookies, with rugby, cricket, and tennis bettors getting the highest value, followed closely by football, but they can’t match the likes of BetVictor and a few other top names.

In-play betting odds are just as good if not better, and there are plenty of good bet types to try including a lot of multiples, Asian lines, and handicap betting including 3-way handicap. A fixture between Aston Villa and West Ham had 359+ betting lines to choose from you won’t find better in that respect.

Horse and Greyhound punters can also enjoy best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish races as well as live streaming, and the Novelty/Politics betting should get a special mention as they currently offer 55 markets combined and cover betting lines not seen at many other bookies such as Plaid Cymru markets, full coverage of the Emmy’s, plus the Turner Prize, Mercury Prize, and Strictly.

Grosvenor One

Grosvenor Sports Grosvenor OneIf you have ever used Grosvenor before you might remember their loyalty reward points. That scheme has been scrapped now in favour of the new Grosvenor One scheme.

It’s not just a reward scheme but it also links your online play/betting with any activity at a physical casino. There is a card you can sign up for and this will essentially give you a single wallet, so that you can deposit and withdraw from your online account in one of their casino’s, or use the card to play at the casino with funds from your online account. It gives customers a little more freedom and power.

It also grants access to various offers, promotions, and rewards.

A lot of these are geared towards casino players over sports bettors, but there is some fluidity here and as time goes on you can probably expect to see more, but free bets is as far as it goes at the moment. There are regular prize draws for things like concert tickets (Elton John for example, so it’s not exactly small fry stuff), and you also get free drinks and a discount on food at the casino.

Promotions

Grosvenor Sports PromotionsOf course there are regular promotions as well, and these have more to offer sportsbook punters.

There are lots of offers for both products, some of which are long standing promotions whereas others are time limited. You could find things like rush hours on certain games, weekly giveaways, game of the week, stake refunds for specific events, and things like that.

Again, as the sports book grows and develops I would imagine the range of offers will too, but even as it stands at the moment there is a fair amount to benefit from.
