Double Delight and Hat-trick Heaven is a long running offer at Betfred. Although it might sound like two separate promotions it is actually just one, albeit with two stages.

Here’s how it works:

• Betfred lists specific football matched which the offer is valid for.
• Punters bet on the first goal scorer (pre-match singles only)
• If your bet wins, the promotion is triggered.
• If the goal scorer you bet on goes on to score again you are paid out at double the odds you took.
• If the goal scorer gets a hat-trick you are paid out at triple the odds you took.

So you don’t have to do anything extra, you just have to get the first bit right.

Usually these will be shown about a week in advance. If you fancy  any of them, head to the sportsbook, select the game in question, then pick a first goal scorer and place your bet.

Just remember, it can’t be part of a multiple, it has to be a single bet.

Once the bet is placed Betfred’s internal system will recognise it as a qualifying bet, and the promotion will trigger if your chosen player does the business on the day.

It doesn’t matter when the player scores the additional second or third goals (so long as they are in normal time), it’s only the timing of the first goal that matters.

This means your man could score three but not be the first goal scorer, and your bet would lose. On the flip side though, he could score first then bag two in injury time and your winnings would be higher.

Apart from the potential extra winnings, this offer means if you do back a first goalscorer and your bet wins you still have an active bet in the game as the payout can increase if the player then scores more.

Imagine you had a tenner on Erling Haaland to score first at 3/1, and he bangs one in after 15 minutes. Great, you’ve won £30, but the entertainment value of the bet was short lived.
